Main Advantages of OpenType format
OpenType supports Unicode, this is why OpenType fonts can contain large character sets
with more than 65,000 glyphs. Due to the use of Unicode OpenType fonts have much better language support.
OpenType is supported directly by the OS (Windows 2000 or higher; Mac OS X or higher).
OpenType fonts provide cross-platform compatibility.

Mac OS code pages: Cyrillic, Roman/US, Central European, Greek, Turkish, Icelandic, Croatian, Romanian;
Windows code pages: Cyrillic, Western, Central European, Greek, Turkish, Baltic;
Furthermore this packages may include additional support for the languages:
Armenian, Georgian (Gruzinski) and Asian Cyrillic - Kazakh, Abazin, Uzbek etc.
The font packages are available in OpenType CFF-Format.
CFF is the PostScript flavoured variety of OpenType.
